What’s coaching all about?

  • How does coaching work?

Coaching is forward focussed and non-directional. It concentrates on the client & their goals to create and manage personal change.

I won’t give you all the answers, but I will ask questions and offer relevant tools, to help you find your own solutions, achieve your personal best and to produce the results you want in your personal and professional lives.

  • Is coaching for me?

Are you ready to start taking action to create and navigate the future you want?

If so, coaching is for you.

We look at where you are right now, identify where you want to be and then discover and act on the options you have to move you forward.

  • Is it confidential?

What happens in our sessions stays in our sessions, just like seeing a therapist. However, if I believe you are a harm to yourself or others then I may need to refer or consult others.

  • How long does it typically take to see results?

Coaching is not a quick fix. It takes time to make the necessary changes. The time that your coaching process will take, depends on the complexity of your goals and your commitment and openness to your process.

  • Is coaching the same as therapy?

No. Coaching and therapy are very different interventions. Therapy (or counselling) is designed to treat or alleviate mental health problems.

  • What coaching isn't

Coaching isn’t about your me giving you suggestions or advice. As your coach I won’t tell you how to set or achieve your goals. It is not mentoring, counselling, therapy, consulting, training or teaching.

If you commence a series of coaching sessions and it’s deemed coaching isn’t the right support for you at the moment, we’ll discuss this to find a suitable solution to support your onward journey.

  • What will happen during a coaching session?

The content of the session is dependent on your requirements and preferences; which can be discussed further. Each session will be for 60 minutes unless otherwise stipulated. I’ll manage the timing of the session and ensure you gain full value from the session.

  • What does the coach need from you during a session?

To make sure that your time is being well spent in your sessions, it’s best to come to the session fully prepared and with a goal or aspiration in mind that you would like to work towards.

Preparation is very important for the coaching session so you are encouraged to spend about 15 minutes prior to the session to get ready. This can include taking yourself to somewhere where you will not be disturbed, with a drink so you can feel refreshed and unhurried prior to the start of the session. You will also need to ensure that you have a pen and paper to hand to make any notes that will be helpful.
