You are The Defier!

What it looks like:

You avoid important tasks by keeping yourself busy with less important ones. You may over-commit yourself, saying yes to everything and spreading yourself too thin, all while avoiding the more important tasks. Does any of this sound familiar? Does any of this sound familiar?

You:

  • take on too much at once

  • are always busy, but not always productive

  • often exhausted or burnt out

  • fear letting people down feel

  • guilty for resting and rarely makes time for yourself

  • struggle to prioritise

Why it happens:

A need for validation, fear of missing out, or a tendency to distract yourself with busywork rather than tackle larger, more daunting tasks

What to try:

  • get clear on priorities. Not everything is equally important. Use a simple system (like the Eisenhower Matrix) to separate urgent from important tasks and focus on what truly moves you forward.

  • set boundaries and learn to say no. If you take on too much, something will always get pushed aside, often your own needs. Practice saying no to tasks that don’t align with your priorities.

  • delegate or ask for help. You don’t have to do everything yourself! Identify tasks that someone else could handle and let them. Delegation isn’t a failure, it’s smart time management.

  • break the ‘busy work’ cycle. Ask yourself: Am I doing this to feel productive, or is it actually necessary? Catch yourself when you’re filling time with low-impact tasks and redirect that energy to what really matters.

  • set time limits for tasks. Over-Doers can spend too long on things that don’t need it. Set a time limit for each task to avoid perfectionism and overworking.

  • prioritise rest and recharge. Burnout leads to real procrastination. Schedule time for yourself just like you schedule tasks, because if you don’t recharge, you won’t be effective in the long run.
