You are The Dreamer!
What it looks like:
You have big ideas and dreams but lack a clear plan of action, jumping from one thing to another. Does any of this sound familiar?
You:
are constantly coming up with new ideas and get distracted by the ‘new shiny thing’
find it difficult to follow through with any of the ideas
over-estimate your capacity spend too much time thinking about possibilities
feel overwhelmed by the scale of your goals
think more about the big picture than the small steps you can take to make progress
Why it happens:
A desire to achieve great things or an overwhelming vision of success without concrete steps often leads to inaction.
What to try:
break Ideas into small, actionable steps. Instead of getting lost in the big vision, ask yourself, What is one small step I can take today? Turning ideas into clear, manageable tasks prevents overwhelm.
set deadlines and timelines. Dreamers often avoid structure, but setting clear deadlines helps bring ideas to life. Try setting a due date for each step rather than leaving tasks open-ended.
prioritise and commit to one idea at a time. Instead of jumping from idea to idea, pick one and see it through. Ask, Which idea excites me most right now? and focus on completing it before moving to the next.
take action before overthinking. Rather than waiting for the perfect plan, start with a small action. Tell yourself, I’ll start now and figure things out as I go. Momentum builds clarity.
use a "finish before you start something new" rule. Commit to finishing one project before starting another. If you have a new idea, write it down for later rather than abandoning what you’re currently working on.
track progress to stay motivated. Dreamers can lose focus if they don’t see results. Keep track of progress, whether it’s checking off completed tasks or celebrating small wins, to stay motivated and keep moving forward.
